Man, 42, Arrested For Stabbing Lady With Dagger During Squabble

A 42-year old man, Joseph Etim, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stabbing a lady, Augusta Joseph, with a dagger during a squabble over an undisclosed matter.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 13, Durojaiye Street, Apasa in Ayobo area of Lagos.

 

She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she is being treated while the matter was reported to the Police at Ayobo Division. Police operatives arrested the suspect and detained him at the station over his alleged conduct.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and the complainant had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to hot exchange of words and in the process, the suspect brought out the dagger and stabbed her on the back. She was said to have bled profusely before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

 

After interrogation, the Police found the suspect culpable and then charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for assault and grievous harm on the victim.

 

The charge read: “That you, Joseph Etim ‘m’ on the 24th of November, 2024 at abo 2344hrs at No 13, Durojaiye Street, Apasa Ayobo, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully use a dagger knife to stab one Augusta Joseph ‘f on her back causing her a grievous harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 245 of criminal law, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A.Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
