A 42-year old man, Surajudeen Oyetunji Oyewale, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly battering his wife, Aminat and went further to make offensive publication against her on the social media.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Lekki Palm City, Ajah area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the man had a lingering disagreement with the wife over an undisclosed matter between them, which led to the wife being assaulted by him.
The Police alleged that the man had on 24th April, 2024, assaulted his wife, Aminat and inflicted injury on her. And he went further to publish offensive allegations against her on the social media.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. The operatives later transferred him to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for further interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
