Man, 42, Docked For Sleeping With Girl, 8

A 42-year old man, Seydou Garuba, has landed in trouble after he was allegedly caught having sex with an 8-year old girl in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Moshalasi Street opposite Ojo Barracks, Ojo Local Government area of Lagos, where they reside.

The suspect, Garuba, was said to have lured the girl into his apartment, removed her pant and engaged her into unprotected sex before he was caught and handed over to the Police in the area. After his arrest he was transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation.

During investigation, he reportedly denied before the girl was brought before him and she narrated how she was raped by Garuba and he became speechless.

Having been found culpable, the Police subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.The Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor,  Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E Kubeinje, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre and directed the Prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s report, which will determine if the matter with be transferred to the High Court over jurisdiction
