A 43-year old man, Rasaq Ali, has been arrested for sexually molesting a 4-year old girl by inserting his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Boy’s Town Bus Stop, Ipaja area of Lagos, where they reside.
He was alleged to have lured the little girl to his apartment, removed her pant and inserted his finger into her private part before he allowed her to go having satisfied himself.
However, he was accosted when the girl opened up after her suspicious movement to his apartment over the dastardly act.
His unruly conduct was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.
During interrogation, the suspect, Ali, reportedly admitted that he inserted his finger into the girl’s private part but did not penetrate her with his dick and as such did not rape her.
All the same, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
The Court did not take his plea or grant him bail after the prosecutor, Mr. Victor Eruada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till the outcome of the DPP’s advice is known, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction
