Man, 43, Docked For Hitting Wife’s Nose With Fist Blows During Brawl

A 43-year old man, Alexander Nwawueze, has displayed his boxing prowess by hitting his wife, Celestina Nwawuzie, with fist blows on the nose and Inflicting injury on her during a public brawl in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jimoh Street, Lawanson area of Surulere, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, after beating her mercilessly, the man reportedly locked her out of their matrimonial home and was forced to stay outside.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, Alexander Nwawueze ‘m’ on the 23rd day of November 2024, at Jimoh Street, Lawanson, Surulere area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault your wife, one Celestina Nwawueze ‘f by giving her fist blows on her nose and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Alex Nwawueze ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner to cause breach of peace by locking your wife, one Celestina Nwawueze ‘f out of your matrimonial home and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(D) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Mishozunnu Samuel, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F. D. Hughes, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
