Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 44-year old man, who allegedly specialised in putting his fingers into the private parts of young girls including his own biological daughters in his area.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Anthony Odita, was arrested after he was caught for allegedly inserting his fingers into the private part of his two daughters aged 12 and 9, and was detained at the Police Command.
The incident happened at Plot 46, Freedom Estate Road, Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where he resides with his family.
During interrogation, the Police discovered it was not only his daughters that were involved but other minors in the area were also victims.
Having been found culpable, the man was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for sexual assault on his daughters by penetration of private parts, which is also statutory rape likely to attract several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
However, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, informed the Court that the man penetrated the victims, who are his biological daughters, then asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 16th December, 2021, for the report of the DPP to be available while the man will remain in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
