A 44-year old man, Kesiena Benjamin, has landed in trouble after he was allegedly caught tempering with his neighbour’s 3-year old girl private part in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Sefiu Liadi Street, off Ayodele Street, Asolo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged the suspect, Benjamin, to have lured the little girl and sexually molested her by inserting his finger into her private part and he was eventually caught in the act.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and then charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
However, the Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Supol Raji Akeem, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice in order to determine if the defendant was culpable for the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E.Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 24th November, 2021,for the report of the DPPto be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
