A 44-year-old civil servant, Charles Ogunyinka, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly molesting his 3-year old daughter and he was exposed by the victim.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Abaranje in Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the victim’s mother went out and left the girl in the care of the father and he allegedly molested her in the process. When the mother returned, the victim started crying, pointing at her private part and then her father.

The mother checked her private part and discovered that she was abused. She went to Ikotun Police station and reported the incident. So the man was arrested and detained for interrogation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The man was arraigned on Friday before the Court for allegedly molesting his three-year-old daughter.

The man, who resides in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos, is facing a charge of unlawful and indecent touching of a minor, an offence said to contravene Section 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

The Prosecutor, Supol Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the Court that the incident happened in January 2025 at the defendant’s residence when the child was reportedly left in her father’s care while the mother stepped out briefly.
Upon her return, she found the child crying, and further inquiry allegedly led the child to gesture toward her private parts while identifying her father.

However, Ogunyinka pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, O. O. Kusanu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned to 11th September,2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
