A 45-year old married man, Chigozie Akwudiba, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he was allegedly caught having sex with his neighbour’s 10-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ariori Street, Mafoluku area of Oshodi, Lagos, where they reside.
Police source alleged that the man, Chigozie, lured the victim in the evening to his apartment when his wife was not around and confused her with words of mouth. He then removed her pant and engaged her in a sex romp but was unlucky as he was eventually caught in the act.
The matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested. Having been found culpable by the Police, the man was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
However, when he was arraigned, the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the matter involved a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered Chigozie to be remanded in prison custody without taking his plea or granting him bail.
The Court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the defendant will remain in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s advice.
They matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP report finds the man culpable and recommends that he should be tried for the alleged offence.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd December, 2019.
