A 45-year old man, Ibrahim Tajudeen, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attacking and inflicting injury on his neighbour, Raphael Chimerie, with a cutlass during public brawl.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 15th January, 2026, at Oremeji Street off lyana Isheri, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, where they reside.

The cause of the disagreement between the suspect and the complainant was not clear as to inflict such injury on the complainant.

According to the Police, the suspect and complainant had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter which led to exchange of words. In the process, the suspect brought out a cutlass and used it to inflict injury on the complainant before he managed to escape but by then he had sustained serious injuries on his body.

The victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

He pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable him to present the facts of the matter so that the Court will sentence him accordingly, in order to serve as deterrent to others who might want to commit such crime in future.

The Presiding Magistrate, F.R Oguntayode, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos and adjourned the matter till 17th February, 2026, for facts and sentence.
