A 45-year old man, Alemayo Emmanuel Abiodun, has been arrested and charged before a Court in Lagos State for allegedly sexually assaulting his neighbour’s 11-year old girl severally by penetrating her anus in order to satisfy his sexual desires.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Itire Road, Mushin area of Lagos, where they reside.
So far, he has been remanded in custody following his arraignment before the Ogba Magistrate Court having been found culpable by the Police operatives at the Lagos State Command.
The Police alleged that the defendant had molested the girl from when she was six years old by touching her private parts until she was 11 years old and he started engaging her in both anal and normal sex but warned her not to tell anyone about it.
However, the matter got exposed on 10th August, 2023, when the girl revealed what had happened to her over the years and the matter was reported to the Police. Thus, Abiodun was arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
