A 46-year old man, Harrison Ekeoma, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly fondling the breasts of a12-year old girl and getting her confused before he defiled her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Soretire Street, Ogba area of Lagos, where they reside and he has been arrested by the Police for defilement
The Police alleged that the suspect, Harrison, came back from work when the girl’s parents had gone to work. He was said to have lured the girl into his apartment and used words of mouth to confuse her before he fondled her breasts, she became more confused and was unable to resist him. He then engaged her in sex. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but by then the girl regained her senses and reported what happened to her parents.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and Harrison was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable despite the fact that the suspect claimed that he did not force her and he did so with her consent.
He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if found guilty.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged crime.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody without an option of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 20th June, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
