A 47-year old man, Chemile Onuoha, has been arrested and charged before Court for allegedly engaging a 12-year old girl into sex romp inside his shop in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Shagari estate in Ipaja area of Lagos where they reside and committed the alleged dastardly act on the victim.

He was charged for defilement under the Criminal law of the State which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court.

According to the Police,  the defendant lured the victim into his shop and started inserting his finger into her private part before he eventually asked her to lie down on the floor where he penetrated her in the process.

While he was in the act with the victim,  her grandmother, who was looking for her, eventually went to the shop and caught the suspect, Onuoha, having sex with her in the shop and she raised alarm that evening.

The victim revealed that he lured her into the shop, inserted his finger into her private part and later penetrated her before her grandmother caught them in the act.

The matter was reported to the Police at Gowon Estate Division. He was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

But the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 28th May, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
