A 47-year old man, Paul Adebayo, may likely spend the rest of his life in prison custody for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 7-year old daughter in sex romp and was caught in the act in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Adebayo, has been arrested by the Police.
The incident happened at Jonah Close, Mende area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect, Adebayo, had at different times lured the victim into his apartment and used his fingers on her private part for easy penetration before he eventually engaged her in sex romp.
However, on one of the occasions, while he was still in the act, the information leaked and he was eventually caught.
The victim further exposed him by revealing that he had defiled her in different occasions and asked her not to tell anyone about it.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area. He was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 15th February, 2023, for mention for DPP advice which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
