Man, 48, Arraigned For Stealing Company’s N13m Products

A 48-year old man, Nkwoke Innocent, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing over N13m worth of products belonging to GPC Energy and Logistic Limited.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 13th March, 2025, at the company located at No. 4B Regina Coker Street Off Kofoworola area of Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect conspired with others now at large and stole 166 bags of 50kg sugar valued N13,114,000:00k and later the company discovered through an internal audit and the suspect was unable to give satisfactory response.
The matter was reported to the Police at MAN Center Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over the alleged missing items.
After thorough interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Nkwoke Innocent and others now at large on 13th March, 2025, between 0800hrs and 0450hrs at GPC Energy and Logistic Limited, located at No. 4B Regina Coker Street Off Kofoworola Ikeja in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felory to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Nkwoke Innocent and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the Aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal 166 bags of 50kg sugar valued N13,114,000:00k (Thirteen Million One Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira), property of GPC Energy and Logistics Limited located at Regina Coker Street Off Kofoworola Ikeja and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail in the sum of N600,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 30th April, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in  custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
