A 50-year old man, Oloyede Adebanjo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a company’s 600 bags of flour and 150 bags of sugar worth N35m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Adebanbo, has been arrested and charged for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The incident happened between 2022 and 1st day of June, 2025, at Kofoworola Street, Awori Bus Stop, Abule Egba area of Lagos, where the items belonging to Amobi Anagor were packed.
According to the Police, the suspect has been conspiring and stealing the items, which left the complainant wondering how the items were missing inside the shop until sometime this year, before the suspect was caught.
The matter was reported to the Police at Oke Odo Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After the interrogations, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, Oloyede Adebambo ‘M’ and others now at large between year 2022 and 1st day of June 2025 at No 9, Kofoworola Street, Awori Bus Stop, Abule Egba, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Oloyede Adebambo, ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal 600 bags of flour and 150bags of Sugar valued at Thirty Five Million Naira Only (N35,000,000.00), properties of one Amobi Anagor ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (1) (a) and (b) and punishable under Section 287(5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
