A 51-year old man, Oluranti Badejo, has killed his wife, Folashade Badejo, after he smashed her head on a wall for asking him for the payment of their three children’s school fees.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at their apartment located at Orimerunmu, Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over the conduct.
The Police spokesman explained that the late Folashade, who was a fashion designer, got into an argument with her husband over the payment of their three children’s school fees.
The argument was said to have degenerated into fisticuffs as Oluranti allegedly smashed Folasade’s head against the wall.
Their 8-year old daughter, Jumoke, reportedly said her father abandoned her mother on the floor as she writhed in pain and  eventually died in the process.
Having realised that he had killed her, he planned to cover up and subsequently burnt her corpse with a hot iron but the daughter exposed him.
SP Oyeyemi stated that the younger sister of the deceased reported the incident at the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters and the lifeless body of the victim was taken to a mortuary in Sagamu for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation, however, revealed that the suspect strangled the deceased during a scuffle as a result of a minor disagreement.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Oluranti, has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran from Mowe Police Station for further investigation and may likely be charged before the Court for murder as soon as investigations are concluded by the Police operatives.
