A 56-year old man, Matthew Njoku, has been arrested for allegedly engaging two of his neighbour’s under aged girls in sex and defiling them in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ajiboye Street, Alapere area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police sources said that the suspect, Mr. Njoku, lured the victims aged 11 and 13 on the same date into his apartment at different hours, removed their pants and penetrated them.
However, it leaked after their neighbours confronted the little girls and they confessed that Njoku had engaged them in sex and warned them not to tell anyone what happened.
The alleged offence was reported to the Police and the suspect was invited for interrogation where he reportedly confessed while claiming that he did not force them into the act.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if Njoku is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the matter was adjourned till 15th February, 2020.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
