A 56-year old man, Ayoola John Sunday, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he was allegedly caught having sex with his neighbour’s 17-year old daughter, which had lasted for three years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ifeoluwa Street, Alapere area of Lagos, where they reside.
It was gathered that the suspect, Sunday, had first engaged the victim when she was 14 years and sexually molested her by using his fingers to open her private part. Then from 2016, he reportedly started penetrating her and the victim kept it to herself after he warned her not to tell anyone what was happening.
However, sometime this year, the suspect, Sunday, wanted to continue the dastardly act but they were caught and the victim opened up; she informed her parents that Sunday had been abusing sexually her for the past three years.
The matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested. Sunday was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command.
After interrogation, he was found culpable and was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and founds guilty before the Court.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered the man, Sunday, to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
