A 56-year old man, Amurunoghotse James, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he was allegedly caught penetrating the private part of 9-year old girl in order to satisfy his sexual desire.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ajegunle Osokoro Street, Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, James, lured the girl into his apartment, removed her pants and was fingering her private part before their neighbour caught them and raised alarm.
The girl’s parents asked to know what happened and she revealed how James lured her into the act and started molesting her before it got exposed.
The matter was reported to the Police; James was arrested and detained at the Gender Section of the Lagos Police Command for interrogation over his conduct.
During interrogation, James claimed that he only touched her private part with his finger and did not penetrate her with his dick.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice over jurisdiction.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Layinka, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 20th June, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
