A 60-year old man, Akpah Andrew Akpah, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly using a stick to forcefully open his neighbour’s 8-year girl’s private part for easy penetration.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 2nd January, 2026, at Oluranti Obadina Street, Odogunyan, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, on 23rd January, Y2026, a case of defilement and sexual penetration was transferred from Sagamu Road Division reported by one Kingsley Achubadike representative of Behind Bar Human Rights Foundation of 7/8, Osadee Plaza, Ajao Estate Lagos, on behalf of the survivor.

The complainant alleged that on the 2nd day of January 2026, the suspect took the survivor to his room at the same address, defiled her and also sexually penetrated her vagina with a stick.

The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for further investigation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Akpah Andrew Akpah ‘m’, on the 2nd day of January, 2026, at No. 1, Oluranti Obadina Street, Odogunyan, Ikorodu – Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim ‘f 8 years old by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
