A 60-year old man, Okechukwu Akunna, has landed in prison in Lagos over disagreement with his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Akunna (nee Alonge) and subsequently harassing and sending threat text messages to her.

P.M.EXPRESS report that the incident happened at  Folawowo Street, Ikeja, Lagos, where Okechukwu resides.

The estranged wife, Bamidele, did not take the threat messages for granted; she went to the Police at Ikeja Division and reported the matter. The man, Mr. Okechukwu, was then arrested for interrogation.

The Police did not disclose the details of the messages but found the man culpable and the DPO directed that he should be charged to Court for prosecution.

He was then charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor,  Supol Kehinde Ajayi, then asked the Court to give another date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Ajibade, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 4th February, 2021, for mention.
