Man, 61, R*pes, Impregn*tes Daughter, Attempts Abortion

A 61-year old man, Eke Kanu, has landed in trouble after he allegedly defiled his 19-year old daughter, got her pregnant, attempted to abort the pregnancy and was caught in the act in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Kanu, has been arrested by the Police and will face the charge of defilement and incest which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried before the Court and found guilty. He was said to have started engaging the victim in the act from when she was small but instilled fear in her not to tell anyone until she was 19 when he eventually impregnated her and attempted to abort the pregnancy.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who said that the suspect was in Police custody and will be charged to Court.

He said that on 12th June, 2020, at about 1530hrs, Ikorodu Police Station received a complaint from a member of FIDA, that one Eke Kanu  ‘m’ 61, of Ebute Road, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, was having unlawful sexual intercourse with his 19-year old daughter (name withheld) without her consent.

The girl stated that the father started having sexual intercourse with her when she was small and threatened to deal with her if she tells anybody. She further stated that when her father discovered that she was pregnant, he took her to a Chemist where she was administered some drugs and injection in order to abort the pregnancy.

However, the act leaked and the girl was rescued. She was taken to protective custody and had also been taken to Mirabel Centre by the Police for medical attention and forensic examination. 

DSP Elkana explained that the suspect was arrested and taken to State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for discreet investigation and diligent  prosecution after the conclusion of the investigation.
