Man, 62, Arrested For Defiling Girl, 6, Inside Cemetery

A 62-year old man, Adamu Danga, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 6-year old girl inside a cemetery in Niger State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Numui Cemetery area in Bosso Low Cost, Minna, the Niger State capital.
The suspect, Mr. Danga, who is now cooling his head in Police cell, allegedly lured the victim who was sent on an errand by her mother in the evening, to the cemetery area where he allegedly defiled her.
However, he ran out of luck while he was still in the act as he was caught  by a passerby, who raised an alarm. And when he tried to run, he was pursued by a mob, apprehended and taken to the Bosso Police Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, the suspect, Danga, reportedly admitted that he defiled the girl due to intoxication as he drank reasonable quantity of palm wine, which he bought on his way home from the farm.
This was confirmed by the Niger State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said that the suspect was caught pants down and on top of the minor.
He stated that preliminary investigation was conducted at the Divisional Police Headquarters and the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further action.
DSP Abiodun stated that the victim was taken to the Police clinic for a medical examination and report while the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that the case was under investigation and the suspect would be arraigned in Court for prosecution immediately investigations are concluded by the Police.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
