A 65-year old man, Joseph Ifetu, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly lured an 8-year old girl and inserted his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ibitoye Street off Ojo Road, Suru-Alaba area of Lagos, where they reside.
It was gathered that the suspect, Mr. Ifetu, allegedly lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant and inserted his finger into her private part and thereafter allowed her to go having satisfied himself.
The matter got exposed after the victim narrated what happened to her parents, who then reported the matter to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Mr. Ifetu denied that he abused the victim but was said to have admitted that he only checked something in her private part and allowed her to go.
However, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for unlawful penetration, which is statutory rape and attracts several years of imprisonment.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2019, for the report of the DPP to be available.
