Man, 66, In Trouble For Forging Dead Woman’s Documents To Claim Her House

A 66-year old man, Akinteye Olushola, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly forging house documents belonging to a dead woman, late Florence Olajumoke Ayo and claiming that she sold the house to him before she died. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos, where the woman had a bungalow before she passed on.

 

He was said to have taken possession by fencing the house before the family of the deceased accosted him and he claimed that she sold the house to him before she died.

 

To prove that he actually bought the property from her, he forged payment receipts of the house which he claimed that the deceased issued to him which transferred the ownership of the property to him.

 

However, trouble started after the matter was reported to the Police intelligence team of the Lagos State Command. The operatives moved into action, investigated the payment receipts and discovered that they were forged.

 

The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, forgery and conversion under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The charges read:

COUNT 1: That you, Akinteye Olushola “m” of House 28, DA. Federal Housing Estate in Ipaja on the 8th of August, 2024 at Ipaja in the Lagos Magisterial District. did Conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace and thereby Committed an Offense Contrary and Punishable Under Section 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II: That you, Akinteye Blushola “m” of the same address on the same date in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did Forge official payment receipts of the property of late Florence Olajumoke Ayo under the pretext to convert the property to your own use and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 364 of the Criminal Laws of Lag State, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: That you, Akinteye Olushola “m” of the same address on the same date in the same Magisterial district, did fraudulently convert a bungalow located at  D.A.28, Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja to your own use, a property of Late Madam Jumoke Ayo and therefore, Committed an Offense Contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (7b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

Count IV: That you, Akinteye Olushola ‘m’ of the same address on the Same Date, in the same Magisterial District, Did erect unauthorized Fence and Gate, unlawfully painted the Bungalow located at D.A, 28, Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja, in a bid to converting same to your own personal property unjustly without the knowledge of the owner and therefore, committed an Offense contrary and punishable under Section 348 (I & II) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
