CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

A 67-year old elder of the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Idimu Road branch, Ejigbo area of Lagos, James Olojoye Tan, has confessed to the Police that he had been sleeping with his neighbour’s 12-year old girl before he was finally caught by one of their neighbours.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Elder Tan made the confession at the Gender Section of the Zone D Command, Mushin Lagos, where he was undergoing interrogation over sexual assault on the girl.

The suspect was arrested by the Police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, after Tan was caught by one of their neighbours and reported to the Police.
The neighbour, who is a Pastor, caught him red handed engaging the girl in violent sex romp as she was crying when the Pastor went to check another neighbour upstairs and raised alarm which attracted other neighbours.

The suspect was arrested and later transferred to Zone D Command for further investigation. It was there he made confessional statement and explained why he did so.

He said that he was married before he lost his wife, who had many children for him some years ago, and since then he had not been able to get married again. He admitted that he had slept with the girl two times but the girl corrected him telling the Police that it was four times and he usually tricked her by calling her to come and buy some items for him.

He said that he was a well known elder in his church and was ordained as one of the elders because of his commitment to Church activities. Probably, that may have made him to molest the girl secretly to avoid going to brothels to sleep with sex workers.

The suspect risks life imprisonment if he is charged before the Court and found guilty for the alleged offence. He was still detained at the Police Station at Zone D Command, Mushin, when P.M.EXPRESS visited the Command but was unable over the matter.

However, Police sources said that he will be charged before the Court after the conclusion of investigations.
