A 72-year old man, Jackson David, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured his neighbour’s 7-year old girl and engaged her in sex.
The incident happened at Oyedele Close, Akiode area of Ojodu, Lagos, where they reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from Gender Section of the Lagos Command have arrested the suspect, David.
He may spend the rest of his entire life in custody because the alleged offence attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
According to the Police, the suspect was alleged to have lured the victim, removed her pants and penetrated her in the process before he allowed her to go having satisfied himself.
However, the victim was said to have informed her parents about what the man, they usually call their Baba, did to her when they were not around.
The matter was reported to the Police. The suspect, David, was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the alleged dastardly act.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 21st June, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
