A 38-year old man, Abiodun Ojo, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for defiling a 6-year old girl.
The suspect who was arrested at Magbara Village via Idiroko on Sunday 21st October, 2018, happened to be living in the same house with the parents of the victim and lured the girl into a bush path under the pretence of wanting to send her on an errand; consequent upon which he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in the bush.
It was the shouting and crying of the 6-year old girl that attracted the attention of the local vigilante group who rescued the girl and placed a distress call to Idiroko Police Division.
The DPO, Idiroko Police Division, CSP Aloko Amodu, quickly led his men to the scene at Magbara Village and promptly arrested the suspect who had been severely beaten by the angry mob. Both the suspect and the 6-year old victim were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
