A 26-year old man, Daniel Essien, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for having an unlawful carnal knowledge of a six year old girl (Name withheld).
The suspect who hailed from Akwa Ibom State, lived and worked in the same neighbourhood with the victim’s parents. He was arrested after a complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother, Ayoola Tolulope, of No.6, Olufemi Oshin Street, Alagbole Akute.
Mrs. Ayoola reported that she was called by her child’s school teacher to put her eyes on her daughter as the girl had confided in her that a man had been abusing her sexually. According to her, immediately she got home that particular day she was not herself and that prompted her to interrogate the child on her arrival from school.
The little girl told her mother that it was Essien who owned a hair salon in the neighbourhood who had carnal knowledge of her for about 3 times. On the strength of the report, the DPO Ajuwon Division, CSP Afolabi Kazeem, led detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Anti-Human trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigations and prosecution of the suspect.
