A 25-year old man, Promise Patrick, has landed in trouble after he allegedly used fake alert to play Naija Bet Lottery in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Disk Street off Dorcas Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where the lottery office is located.

Police operatives from Ejigbo Division led by CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, have arrested the suspect, Promise.

It was gathered that the suspect, Promise, had no money to try his luck in the lottery but decided to scam the owner, Adeyemi Samuel, by playing a game to the tune of N13,000 and sent fake alert while waiting to win the game.

However, the owner of the office discovered that he only sent a fake alert as the money was not credited to his account. The matter was then reported to the Police and Promise was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation.
At Police Station, he reportedly confessed that it was a fake alert that he had sent.
He was later charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police prove that the defendant actually committed the offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in the correctional centre pending when he will perfect the bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned till 12th August, 2020, while the defendant will remain in custody pending when the Court will release him.
