A 7-year old girl (name withheld), was defiled after being abandoned in a compound in Lagos by her parents as one of their neighbours lured her and inserted his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Lawal Street in Tedi area of Ojo, Lagos where they resided.

The police have arrested the suspect, Mr. Nwachukwu Chibuike, 28, and detained him at the Command in Lagos for sexually assaulting the victim.

Residents who heard about it wondered what would have been the motivation for Chibuike to engage in such act with the little girl.

It was gathered that the suspect had returned from work and met the victim while her parents were not around. He was said to have lured her into his apartment and locked the door from inside. He then reportedly removed the victim’s pant and inserted his fingers into her private part to the dismay of the victim who respected him.

When he had satisfied himself, he allowed her to go and warned her not to tell anyone. However, when the girl’s parents returned from work, she told them everything that happened when they were not around.

The matter was reported to the police at the Gender Section of the State Command; Chibuike was arrested and detained.
During interrogation, he denied engaging in the act but the victim was brought before him and she explained what transpired between them.

The police found Chibuike culpable and charged him before Ikeja Magistrates court for indecent sexual assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor did not oppose his being granted bail but asked the court to give stringent conditions that will enable the defendant to come for trial.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 15th November, 2018.
