The police in Lagos have arrested a 28-year old man, Adebayo Gbenga, for allegedly taking the pictures of police officers on duty on the highway and posting them on Facebook
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ogba area of Lagos where the officers were said to be performing their lawful duty.
It was not clear why the police officers in question got angry, traced the suspect and eventually arrested. Some said that the officers might have been upset with Gbenga to have exposed them to the world thereby embarrassing the Nigeria Police. The pictures in question were said to have portrayed the officers in bad light, dented their image and that of the Police. The officers reportedly claimed that the contents of his posting on Facebook were lies and did not happen which made them to go after Gbenga and nabbed him.
The embattled Gbenga was alleged to have made false publication on one Inspector Dele Ogunsanlu and other officers attached to Area G Police Command in Ogba on Facebook.
He was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
However, Gbenga denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, asked the court for a date for the police to prove the matter since the defendant had pleaded not guilty.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.C. Emeka-Opara, granted Gbenga bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 27th May, 2019.
