A 37-year old man, Sunday Ojoawo, has landed in trouble after he was caught engaging his neighbour’s 10-year old girl sexually in their compound in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Anuoluwapo Street in Fatoki area of Egan, Lagos where they resided.
It was gathered that Ojoawo returned from work when the parents of the victim were not around, lured her into his apartment and penetrated her. He later allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone about what happened which she agreed to.
However, the whole thing got exposed when he tried it the second time; he was caught by their neighbour who raised alarm and informed other neighbours including the victim’s parents.
The matter was reported to the Gender Section of the Police Command, Lagos; Ojoawo was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that he did not deny that he slept with the 10-year old but claimed that he did not force her as it was done with her consent.
However, the police found him culpable because of the victim’s age and charged him before Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged offence.
At the court, his plea was not taken as the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher Donny, informed the court not to grant him bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, did not take his plea and denied him bail.
The court ordered that he be remanded in prison custody pending when the issue of bail will be considered at the next adjourned date.
The matter was adjourned till 27th August, 2018.
