A man, Olamide Oluwalolope, has been arrested in Lagos for defiling his neighbour’s 8-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mufiatu Opeifa Street in Oke-Odo area of Lagos where they reside.
The man, Olamide, reportedly returned from work and lured the victim into his apartment. He was said to have touched her body and inserted his finger into her private part before defiling her. He later allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone including her parents about what happened. However, the victim was said to have experienced serious pain due to the forceful penetration, she then opened up and told her parents what had happened to her when they were not around.
The matter was reported to the Police at the Gender Section of the State Command, Ikeja, Lagos; Olamide was arrested and detained for interrogation.
During interrogation, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates court for defilement.
P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that the case of defilement attracts heavy penalty if he is tried and found guilty of the charge by the court.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, informed the court that it was a case of defilement and as such will need to seek the advice of DPP.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, did not take his plea and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody. The court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice. It was gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd October, 2018, for the report of DPP to be ready.
