There was panic and confusion in Oko Oba area of Agege, Lagos, after a 60-year old man, Ajibola Arowolo deposed the community monarch and crowned himself king.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in new Oko-Oba area of Agege in Lagos where they resided.
The alleged impostor, Arowolo has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and impersonation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Arowolo gathered some members of the community and announced to them that he had deposed the monarch and had taken over as the new Baale in the community. He reportedly threatened to deal with any member of the community that opposed and did not pay allegiance to him as the king.
It was gathered that the action of Arowolo threw the community into serious crisis as they got divided among themselves and those who did not pledge loyalty to him were said to be threatened before the police Intervened.
The police viewed his action as capable of causing violence in the area and arrested him.
He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Raphael Donny did not object to his bail. Thus the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo granted Arowolo bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 14 May, 2018.
