A man, Abdulwasiu Hamzat, has landed in trouble after he allegedly lured a 20-year old lady, Zainab Isaiaq, engaged her in sex romp and impregnated her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Hamzat, has been arrested by the Police.
The incident happened at Ilorin, Kwara State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Hamzat, had on several occasions enticed the lady, Zainab Isaiaq, to his apartment and had sexual intercourse with her without the knowledge of her parents.
However, the romp got exposed after her parents suspected her condition and conducted a pregnancy test and it confirmed that she was pregnant.
She was asked who was responsible and she mentioned Hamzat’s name. The matter was reported to the Police, he was subsequently arrested and detained for interrogation over the conduct.
While being interrogated, he admitted to have slept with her on several occasions but with her consent and did not know she was pregnant.
Thus, Police found him culpable over the pregnancy and charged him before the Magistrates Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State.
While he was arraigned in Court, the prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, told the Court that Zainab’s pregnancy was four months after Hamzat enticed her to his residence on several occasions during which he usually had sexual intercourse with her.
The Presiding Magistrate, H. A. Alege, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the matter to 8th December, 2022, while seeking for the DPP’s advice.
According to Police sources, the DPP will determine if the matter was a case of statutory rape or not, which will also determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
