A 33-year-old Olamilekan Babatunde has landed in trouble after he reportedly lured a 2-year-old baby and inserted his finger into her private part in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Babatunde was arrested and charged before a Lagos court who ordered him to be remanded in prison custody. The incident happened at Fara street in Ijora Oloye in Lagos State where they reside. The motive behind Babatunde action on the victim was not disclosed by the Police.
However, Police sources said that Babatunde returned early from work on the day of the incident only to lure the victim inside his apartment where he reportedly removed her pant and was inserting his finger inside her private part.
The assault was exposed after the parents of the baby started looking for her and discovered that she has been inside Babatunde’s apartment. They caught him in the act.
The assault was reported to the police and Babatunde was arrested and detained at the station.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that Babatunde admitted that he tampered with her private part with his finger but did not penetrate her.
He was subsequently charged before Ikeja Magistrates court with indecent assault on the victim under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuhi did not object to his bail but asked the court to give the bail condition that will enable the defendant to come to court to face trial.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi granted Babatunde bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum. The court also ordered the prosecutor to send Babatunde’s file to DPP for advice.
The accused was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 25 May 2018.
