A housewife, Mrs. Folorunsho Jumoke, had a sad experience after she was said to have tongue-lashed one of their neighbours, one Mr. Kazeem Salami, and he used a cane to flog her mercilessly in their compound in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Williams Ladega Street in Mushin, Lagos, where they resided.
The 39-year old Salami has landed in trouble as he was arrested over the assault.
Police source said that the suspect had a disagreement with the woman over an undisclosed matter which led to both of them exchanging words and in the process, Jumoke was said to have tongue-lashed him.
Out of rage, Salami reportedly grabbed her, rained blows on her and then picked a cane with which he flogged her like a baby. She cried calling her husband and neighbours for help. It took the intervention of their neighbours before they were separated, but by then Salami had inflicted serious injury on her.
Jumoke then went to the police at Olusan Division, Mushin, Lagos and reported the assault. The police arrested Salami and charged him before Ogba Magistrates court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ekadu Edet, did not oppose his being granted bail but asked the court for a date for hearing.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Ogbe, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 26th August, 2018.
P.M.EXPRESS correspondent overheard Salami saying at the court that he was not like Jumoke’s husband who she used to insult and tongue-lash and that the incident will teach her a lesson not to insult anybody especially men in future.
