A 36-year old man, Mr. Frank Nkwopara, has land in trouble after he lured a 17-year old girl into sex romp after fondling her breasts and defiling her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ijegun area of Lagos where both the victim and the suspect reside.
It was gathered that the defendant, Nkwopara, returned from work and lured the victim into his apartment; he confused her with words of mouth, she initially resisted and had wanted to leave. But he moved his hands to her breasts which got her confused, he then took her to his bed and had carnal knowledge of her. Later, the victim regained herself, cried and reported the incident to her parents.
The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun Division; Nkwopara was arrested and detained at the police station.
During interrogation, he claimed that the victim consented before he slept with her. But the victim denied any consent and reportedly revealed that he lured her to his room apartment, fondled her breasts, got her confused and raped her.
The police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates court for defilement.
When he was arraigned, the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that the victim was a minor because she was below 18 and was defiled.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied him bail and did not take his plea because it was a case of defilement which attracts long prison term.
The court ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd October, 2018 for the report of DPP to be available.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that if DPP finds him culpable and he was tried and found guilty, he may be jailed up to 10 years for the alleged offence.
