A 29-year old man, Akinyemi Rasaq, has landed in trouble after he reportedly engaged a 13-year old girl in sex and he was caught in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Monsan Lane, Moshalasi, Alhaji in Agege area of Lagos where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Rasaq, lured the girl and engaged her in sex before it leaked and they were caught with the girl alleging that he forced her into the act without her consent.
The matter was then reported to the Police at Isokoko Police Division; Rasaq was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation over the act.
He was said to have told the Police that he did it with the girl’s consent contrary to the girl’s claim.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable because the victim was still an under aged girl and charged Rasaq before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
However, his plea was not taken after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. J.A.Adegun, ordered his remand in custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 26th September, 2020, while Rasaq will remain in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report.
The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial due to jurisdiction.
