MICHAEL AKINOLA
Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have a arrested a young man, Michael Ekundayo, for allegedly molesting a 4-year old girl by engaging her in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ogunjebe Street, Dopemu area of Lagos, where they reside.
Police alleged that the suspect, Ekundayo, lured the little girl into his apartment, removed her pant and defiled with her before he was caught in the act.
He was handed over to the Police at Area G, Command, Ogba, Lagos. During interrogation, he was found culpable by the Police and was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. H. Unah, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victim was a minor.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. A.A. Fashola, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while Ekundayo will remain in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice. The case was adjourned to 15th October, 2020.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
