A 33-year old man, Emmanuel Oriji, has landed in trouble in Lagos State over alleged failed attempts to seduce an 11-year old girl by pressing her breasts.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Apena Street, Ago Okota area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect had attempted to defile the victim by fondling her breasts in order to lure her into sex but unfortunately she resisted and raised alarm, which attracted their neighbours including her parents.
The matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested for interrogation over the conduct. While being interrogated, he reportedly denied but the victim exposed him and narrated what happened.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 20th October, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
