A middle aged man, Sakiru Famuyiwa, who allegedly abducted two kids from a Celestial Church of Christ in the Ijeja location of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has been nabbed.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect was not long apprehended on Friday after the incident was reported at the Ibara Police Division.
The Ogun State Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the suspect and an accomplice currently at large had sneaked into the children’s branch of the church in the duration of the Good Friday and stole two children, aged two and three.
The suspects were reportedly sighted by a member of the church while they were leaving with the children.
The member, who saw the suspects leaving immediately, raised an alarm and members of the congregation pursued and apprehended one of them.
Upon the distress call, the DPO of Ibara Division, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele, swung into action; mobilised his officers and moved to the scene, where the suspect was rescued from the angry mob, who the Police Spokesman, Oyeyemi, said was about to be lynched.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspects to be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State CIID for discreet investigation.
