A 29-year old Taofik Waheed has escaped death after his rival, Oladele Adejeobi stabbed him with a dagger on the chest during a public brawl in Lagos.
The incident happened at Mosafejo Road in Oshodi, Lagos where both the victim and suspect resided.
The victim bled profusely and was rushed to a hospital where he was being treated because of the deep injury he sustained.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the victim and the defendant were well known rivals in the area and neighbours could not trace where their problem started.
It was also learnt that the residents had tried to settle the rift between them to non avail before the incident happened.
On the fateful day, it was gathered that they had a disagreement but unknown to the victim the suspect was prepared, hid a dagger inside his clothes and covered it. It was during the scuffle that he brought the dagger, stabbed him directly on the chest, forced it deep inside before he withdrew it.
However, his action has landed him in trouble as the matter was reported to the police and Adejeobi has been arrested.
He was later charged before Ogba Magistrates court for serious assault.
He pleaded not guilty before the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade.
He was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Akeem Raji did not object his bail condition.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition, while the victim was still admitted where he was receiving treatment over the attack.
The matter was adjourned till 4 April, 2018.
