A 27-year old man, Mr. James Aigbolba, has killed the joy of a couple who had been looking for the fruit of the womb over the years in Lagos as he gave one Mrs. Rita Wabara a punch on the stomach and she lost her pregnancy.
The couple had been looking for the fruit of the womb and eventually Mrs. Rita took in to the excitement of the family. However, their happiness did not last after Mr. Aigbolba who was their neighbour punched Rita on her stomach, she eventually had a miscarriage and lost the baby.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Toyin Daniel Street in Ejigbo, Lagos where they resided.
It was gathered that the couple had a disagreement over waste PSP bill in the compound. It was during the disagreement that they had exchange of words and in reaction Aigbolba went to Rita, gave her a hard punch on her stomach; she started bleeding and was rushed to a hospital.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that before the doctor could attend to her, she had a miscarriage and the doctor only battled to save her own life.
The matter was reported to the police at Ejigbo Division and Aigbolba was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Kenneth Asibor informed the court that the victim was still lying critically at the hospital and it was not certain what will happen to her. He asked the court to use its discretion on the issue of bail on the defendant.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade did not grant him bail but ordered him to be remanded in prison custody.
The court then directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice. The matter was adjourned to 11th July, 2018, for the report of DPP to be available.
