Man Rapes 12-Year Old Inside Military Barracks

A 28-year old man, one Yunusa Musbau, has been arrested after he was caught having sex with a 12-year old girl, inside the military cantonment in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Camp One, Water Point in Ojo Military Cantonment in Lagos.

It was not confirmed if the suspect was a military officer who resided in the camp that committed the alleged offence.
Police source said that the suspect lured the victim, confused and raped her against her consent.
However, while in the act, they were caught and handed over to the military authorities who handed him to the police.
The matter was transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command, Lagos, for investigation. Musbau reportedly admitted that he slept with her but claimed that he did not rape her.

The police found him culpable because the victim was a minor and confirmed that she was deceived and confused by Musbau.
He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for defilement of a minor.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that the victim was a minor and got traumatized by the incident.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied Musbau bail and did not take his plea.
The court ordered him to be remanded in prison custody, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
It was gathered that the defendant may spend many years in prison custody if the DPP finds him culpable and he gets convicted after trial. The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP report recommends his trial.
