A female police Sergeant, Ogunlola Oladunni who went to arrest a suspect has landed in a hospital after she was brutally attacked and seriously injured during the attack.
The incident happened at 21 Olabisi Emmanuel Street, Liasu road in Idimu area of Lagos where she went to effect arrest with her colleague identified as Adigun Noah.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the female officer was thoroughly battered by the suspect, Aniefiok Asuquo who also used big plank to hit her from the back and she fell down.
Her colleague who accompanied her to the scene was attacked with cutlass and both of them were taken to a hospital where they were admitted.
Following the assault, the police at Idimu division mobilized and arrested Asuquo and took him to the station from where he was charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo for the alleged offence.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Oladunni suffered her fate when a female complainant came to the station and reported a case of assault against Asuquo and she was detailed to follow the complainant to the house and summon the suspect.
It was when she went there that Asuquo reportedly over-powered and attacked her and in the process injured her. When she recovered, she went back to the station and reported what happened to her boss from where she was taken to a hospital.
Akwa Ibom State-born Asuquo was arraigned in court and he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 6 March 2017.
