A 33-year old man, Bayo Sunday has been remanded in prison custody after he allegedly sneak into her neighbour’s restaurant and stole some dry meat and fish in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The incident happened at 31 Memuda Bada Street, Ikotun area of Lagos where Sunday reside and the restaurant is located.
According to police, Sunday woke up early in the morning at about 5.15 am and secretly went to a cooking pot and stole the items.
While he was escaping, the owner of the restaurant, Patricia Omokhua caught him and he ran away.
When Patricia looked into the pot, he discovered that Sunday carted some of the meat and fish already fried when he was escaping.
The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun division and Sunday was arrested and taken to the Station.
Patricia alleged that Sunday stole the meat and fish worth N6,000 and went away.
At the station, Sunday informed the police that he did not steal any meat and fish as the complainant reported.
He said he took one meat and she was claiming that he stole all the meat in the pot.
However, the police told that since he admitted he took meat without her consent, he had committed offence of stealing under the Criminal code.
He was charged before the court for the alleged offence and he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.
Sunday was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The matter was adjourned till 26 October 2016.
