Man Sent To Prison For Stealing Pastor’s Shoes In Lagos

A youth, Moshood Fatai, has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly breaking into a Pastor’s house and stealing a pair of  shoes.

He was charged with conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Code and remanded in prison custody.

The incident happened at Shonubi street in Ago-Okota area of Lagos where the pastor resides with his family.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect told the police that he had  known the Pastor, Johnson Emeka for wearing expensive shoes which can be sold for reasonable amount to start his furniture business.

“I am from Kwara State, I learnt furniture business and needed to raise money to start somewhere but I did not know what happened to me,” Fatai told P.M.EXPRESS.

It was gathered that the suspect targeted the pastor when he had gone to the church service and jumped into the compound, broke into his apartment and stole the shoes.

However, while he was escaping, he was caught by the security guard who apprehended him and handed him over to the police at Ago division.

He was charged before Isolo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. Fatai pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Oje Uagbale did not object to his bail. He  wants the bail for the suspect for him to attend for trial in the interest of  justice.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.O Ogbe granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 10 May 2017.
